OpenAI DevDay 2026 puts ongoing agents and shared work at the center

Alongside GPT-6.1 Sol, OpenAI announced Dots, computer use for its Agents API, and new ways to collaborate in ChatGPT. Availability varies across plans, previews and announced future rollouts.

OpenAI's September 29 DevDay brought more than 20 announcements. Dots are agents designed to handle continuing responsibilities. Their initial availability covers eligible Pro and Business Premium users, with admin-enabled beta access for Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare workspaces.

For developers, the Agents API adds computer use alongside capabilities such as tool search, multi-agent work and context compaction. OpenAI also described an AWS integration through Bedrock Managed Agents. The Decisions API, intended for routing and classification against predefined choices, was announced in limited preview.

The collaboration announcements include ChatGPT Space, editable Pages and plugin extensions that can add interactive panels.

The common direction is clear: give agents tools, persistent responsibilities and shared places to work. For teams evaluating these releases, the immediate questions are which features their plan includes and what actions their agents are allowed to take.
