Gemini 4 Argon arrives, with access starting among cyber defenders
Google has announced its next flagship model for demanding coding and knowledge work. Initial access is restricted to trusted cybersecurity partners, with broader availability still to come.
Google announced Gemini 4 Argon on September 30, positioning it for extended software engineering, financial research, legal work and cybersecurity tasks. The initial rollout is through its Fairwind Program for trusted cyber defenders.
One notable technical change is an output limit of one million tokens, up from 64,000. That gives the model more room for lengthy reasoning and generated work. Google reports strong coding results and describes internal experiments with code migrations and memory optimization; those remain company-reported results.
Google lists introductory API pricing of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with a 95% discount on cached input.
For developers, the immediate distinction is availability. This is a flagship announcement with restricted initial access. Google says it will gather feedback and strengthen safeguards before expanding to developers, businesses and consumers.
